The space is covered with a grid, on which are placed Takenobu Igarashi’s works and production materials from the archive’s collection. Among them,  Igarashi’s favorite tools and stationaries are included, as well as works by artists and designers who were friends of Igarashi. Some of them are familiar to us, but when you see them placed on the horizontal and vertical lines, you will have a different impression.

Using the grid as a guide, we can easily grasp the world around us and the elements that make it up. We may discover relationships between objects that we had not noticed before. However, there is also the danger that objects reduced to a common unit will be seen as homogeneous. The grid is also used in Igarashi’s designs and sculptures. What is the intention behind these works? Let us indulge in various contemplations through this exhibition, taking the possibilities and limitations of the grid as our guide.

The permanent exhibition introduces Igarashi’s creative activities, starting with his works from his days as a designer to his representative works after his transition to a sculptor, using the keyword “environment” as a starting point.
